SELECTION PROCESS

HOW EMPLOYEES ARE RECRUITED AT BESTECH

A BESTECH recruiter will contact top applicants whose skills and qualifications closely match the position requirements for the possibility of an interview.

Your first interview will typically be with a BESTECH recruiter, who may discuss your talents and fit with both the position and BESTECH. The interview may be conducted in person or by phone depending on your location and availability. If you are eligible and you are suitable for the position, your name will then be presented on a shortlist of candidates to a BESTECH hiring manager to qualify for a second interview.

Prior to the second interview, you will be required to complete an online personal assessment. A second interview will take place on site with a BESTECH recruiter and your proposed supervisor. This process provides you with a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with your potential working environment.

After it has been determined by the recruiting team that the position is a right fit for you, a conditional offer of employment will be provided, pending criminal, employment and educational verification checks.

Upon completing this process, you will be on your way to an exciting career!

Alternatively, your application will be kept on file in our database for 12 months. We encourage you to keep track of new opportunities by checking back to the careers page on the BESTECH website and resubmitting your resume to reflect changes as they arise.

INTERVIEW PREPARATION

PREPARING FOR BEHAVIOURAL JOB INTERVIEWS

Behavioural interviews allow the interviewer to learn how the interviewee performs in specific employment related situations.

What can candidates do to prepare for a behavioural interview?  When candidates – internal and external – are scheduled to participate in a behavioural interview, they should:

  • Review the job advertisement or job posting;
  • Review the company website and learn about the organization;
  • Be prepared to discuss your expectations of the company; and
  • Come prepared with questions that you need answered about the job, the company, benefits, etc.

During the interview, if you are not sure how to answer the question, ask for clarification. Then be sure to include the following in your answer:

  • A specific situation;
  • The tasks that were;
  • The action(s) you took; and
  • The results of your action(s) i.e. what happened.

It’s important to keep in mind that there are no right or wrong answers. The interviewer is simply trying to understand how you behaved in a given situation. How you respond will determine if there exists an appropriate fit between your skills and the position the company is seeking to fill. Therefore, listen carefully, be clear and detailed when you respond and, most importantly, be honest.

INTERVIEW TIPS

To make the most of the behavioural-based interview style used by BESTECH, we recommend you follow the steps below:

  • When asked a question, frame your answer in three steps: Situation > Action > Result.
  • Talk briefly about the situation.
  • Detail how you handled the issue.
  • Discuss the positive outcome.
  • Listen carefully. Ask for clarification if necessary. Answer completely.
  • Try to use recent examples.
  • Illustrate your examples with experiences from previous jobs, internships, activities, team involvements and community services.

Be prepared to discuss how your skills and experience align with the role, and how you might approach success if selected for the position.
